Playing the music you love should feel easy, and it should look like a tonne of fun. Not many bands embody this idyllic aesthetic as well as BLAND.
Offsetting the somewhat scragglier pub rock cohort trudging their way through Sydney at the moment (looking at you, Crocodyus), BLAND’s take on the genre is far more laid back. Easy listening garage, if such a thing can exist.
Today the Aussie rock revivalists unveil their homey new clip, set to 2017’s slacker anthem Couch. Check it out above.
Cool, charming and as easy as a Sunday arvo, BLAND’s Couch is Aussie slacker rock at it’s satisfying best.
Opening, fairly predictably, with our four heroes cutting loose on the couch, the clip becomes a guided tour through the Australian weekend lexicon.
Infomercials, The Bachelor, a hills hoist, and a spot of surf livesaving (g’day, Sunscreen) all saunter their way onto the screen, before leaving us with a confronting take on early morning exercise programming.
Despite the ending, the clip for Couch will definitely whisk you off to a happy, happy place. One where alarms don’t exist, the beers are always frosty and your mates are just a shout away.
Look out for BLAND’s debut EP, due for release February 16th.
