PREMIERE: Lose yourself in the bizarre world of Bruise Pristine’s new video The Way It Is

Since dropping their debut EP Not Like You last August, Sydney trio Bruise Pristine have become one of our favourite Aussie bands. They belt out a brooding blend of sounds that feel simultaneously woozy and hard-hitting.

For over a year now, we’ve been patiently waiting for new music from Bruise Pristine, and now they have delivered their incredible new video for The Way It Is. Just a quick warning: by the time this thing reaches its conclusion, you’ll have probably lost your mind.

On their new video for The Way It Is, Sydney three-piece Bruise Pristine create a surreal world that you’ll have no problem losing yourself within.

Throughout the new video, director Olivia Costa guides us through surreal imagery of suited humanoids, performing choreographed dance routines inside an empty community swimming pool, riding bicycles, and working out. As these characters stare blankly down the lens, you’ll be left completely unsure of how to feel. We’re not quite sure what it all means… but it’s a captivating watch from start to finish.

The song itself is a dizzying slice of crunching alt-rock that sits perfectly alongside the clip’s bizarre visuals. As guitarist/vocalist Kate Olivia, bassist Jasmine Smith, and drummer Michelle Baker stand across from these inanimate figures, the perfect audio/visual accompaniment is created.

Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear (or see) what Bruise Pristine deliver next.

For now, do yourself a favour and watch the new video above.
