I don’t often make promises, but I will promise you this: once you dive into the shimmering and sultry sounds of Sunnyside, you’ll never want to leave. The band ooze out an irresistible brand of music that’ll seep deep into your bones and stay there for weeks. It’s really quite extraordinary.
With the release of their new single Stretch, the Melbourne-based outfit continue to establish their penchant for crafting groovy auditory gems. If you’re not already listening to this band, we strongly recommend you change that.
On their new single Stretch, Melbourne-based six-piece Sunnyside craft an irresistibly groove-laden slice of genre-bending brilliance.
Stretch feels like a steamy night in with your lover. Like sharing a glass of champagne with your soulmate atop a set of satin sheets on a warm October evening. Candles a’light, curtains blowin’ in the spring breeze. The new track is a glittery melting pot of jazz, dance, funk, pop, hip-hop, and disco—the result of this delicious concoction is a deeply infectious single.
“Stretch, get down.” Good luck getting that hook out of your head.
Clocking in at nearly seven minutes, the song is a sprawling slice of music that navigates myriad sonic directions—it never sits in one place for too long. This, however, is its most endearing quality. One moment you’ll be floating through hallucinatory psychedelia, and the next you’ll be locked into a soulful groove.
Stretch is the latest single taken from the band’s forthcoming album Momentum, and judging by the quality of everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes. Do yourself a favour and listen to the new track above.
