Solidities is the solo project of Sydney producer Harry Burgess – a moniker that he works under creating sophisticated and complex electronic arrangements. I Is, You Is, We Is, Solidities’ debut effort, is an absolutely flooring sensory experience that boarders on psychedelia, despite having few of the hallmarks of the genre scattered across it. The EP is more akin to a dream state than a psychedelic experience; it’s calming and disconcerting at the same time and is truly something that needs to be heard to be fully understood.
We are stoked to be streaming the debut release from Solidities, the solo moniker of Sydney wizard producer Harry Burgess.
Despite being labelled as an EP, Burgess is adamant that the record is a front-to-back listening experience – more like an LP than a collection of singles. And he couldn’t be more right. I Is, You Is, We Is is a complex and challenging listen, but is arresting once you become wrapped up in its allure. Built from a collection of scattering beats, ambient textures and instrumental oddities, it’s almost like the sonic equivalent of walking through a very weird science exhibition, with stimulus coming at you from all angles.
Currently studying composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Burgess is clearly an extremely talented artist, seemingly with boundless sonic creativity. He plans on taking Solidities into a live environment real soon, which is sure to be an experience.
