There’s something surreal about the music of Hugo Costin. Performing under the name The Astral Plane Parade, he crafts boundless indie-folk gems that are equal parts powerful and fragile. A battle cry against the void“: The Astral Plane Parade’s debut EP, Strutting Through The Stars, is a stunning collection of songs that are equal parts powerful and fragile.

Throughout the new EP’s four-track duration, Costin glides through a glistening concoction of indie-rock, folk and pop to create something that feels simultaneously grounded and transcendental. With ethereal vocal hooks and sprawling instrumental arrangements, Strutting Through The Stars is a love letter to the incredible and often-unappreciated beauty of the every-day.

These are still early days for The Astral Plane Parade, but judging from what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material. On his debut EP, Costin has managed to craft a completely immersive body of work, built off a sound that is completely unique. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear what he delivers next.

For now, do yourself a favour and listen to Strutting Through The Stars above.
