PREMIERE: The Cutaways unveil their explosive new video for In The Street

Let’s make one thing perfectly clear: The Cutaways aren’t here to placate or appease you. Since forming in late 2016, the Brisbane based four-piece have belted out an unapologetic brand of rock music that will slap you right in the face. But rest assured, such a thing never felt so good.

Today, the band have unveiled a new video for their blistering new single In The Street. It should go without saying that we’re stoked to be premiering it for you today.

A proudness to be visible“: Brisbane based four-piece The Cutaways share their explosive and unapologetic new video for In The Street.

Throughout the new track, The Cutaways stomp through their signature concoction of alternative and punk rock. Recorded by Mark Perry (The Gifthorse, Deafcult) at Underground Studios, and mastered by Dan Randall at Mammoth Mastering, the new single traverses through blistering guitar lines, bone-rattling percussion, and driving vocal hooks, In The Street is equal parts hard-hitting and addictive. It’ll slap you in the face and stick in your head for weeks.

I started writing in the street with the intention of conveying the anxiety of allowing yourself to be fully exposed and letting the world see who you truly are. In those early years of transition, I felt fully aware that I was existing in a world that didn’t want me in it, so you build walls and defences as a way to cope,” vocalist Emmy Hour says of the track.

You tell yourself things to get you through, to survive. By the time I’d finished writing it, I felt like it had taken on a more positive vibe; a proudness to be visible, which is something I still rely on day to day. We wanted the video to reflect that and to bear certain confidence and strength, and we feel like Wilson has achieved that wonderfully in the video!

These are still relatively early days for this Brisbane group, but judging by what we’ve heard and seen so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from The Cutaways.
