It was back in May that we premiered the debut single from Canberra artist Will Klep, aka Voidhood. With his strange concoction of sounds, Klep quickly established himself as one of the more unique songwriters we’ve stumbled across.
Now, with the release of his debut EP Sleeping With The Fishes, the young artist continues to build upon his debauched sounds to create something completely immersive.
With the release of his debut EP Sleeping With The Fishes, Canberra artist Voidhood continues to establish himself as one of the country’s most unique emerging songwriters.
Throughout the new EP, Voidhood skips through a distinctly individual blend of jazz, blues and indie-rock to create a sound that never sits in one place for too long – he jerks from one sound to another, pulling you across his sprawling sonic spaces.
With a skin-crawling growl that sits somewhere between King Krule’s and Tom Waits’, Klep’s voice will blanket your body, pulling you deep into the mini universes he creates within each of his songs.
These are still early days for Voidhood, but judging by what we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more great tunes from this Canberra artist. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to see where he takes us next.
For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new EP above.
