With their hallucinatory blend of psych-rock and disco, ZUMA will leave you feeling like fluorescent colours are melting all around you.

Zuma’s mew EP is one trippy record. The band has spent three years together, melding their sounds into perfection. Now, they’re finally ready to share it with the world.

The energy is instant. Right from the first second of the first track, you’re on ZUMA’s acid-fuelled rollercoaster, whirling around. The track is called Motion for good reason. Next, we’re off on a plane to who-knows-where. Flaneur is quite dreamy, with a theme of being lost that continues throughout the record. Then we’re hit with Deep Ride, a woozy explosion of aggressive kicks and momentous bass-lines.

Moving on, we reach The Search Was All in Vain, a beautiful, atmospheric and downtempo psych gem. Falling Off really allows singer Alex to showcase her powerful voice and definitely has a more anthemic feel to it. This is followed by a really open and more chill instrumental pop interlude that is just really nice and calming to listen to.

ZUMA finish up with Coming of Age, a really beautiful and dramatic piece, that starts off sounding like London Grammar fell into deep space. This progresses into more of a psychedelic rock instrumental.

If you have a spare half hour and feel like getting creative, make sure you give this EP a listen!

You can catch ZUMA live across Australia this month, full dates available on their Facebook.
