Perth quintet Satisfaction Guaranteed have released Rumour Has It, an 80s rock-indebted single cementing their place as garage legends.
Satisfaction Guaranteed have released Rumour Has It, serving as the Western Australia band’s fourth-ever single. Written and sung by lead vocalist Johnny Rogers, Rumour Has It sees Satisfaction Guaranteed dispel the gossip atop Ayden James’ triumphant bass and thundering drums courtesy of Tommy Host. For his part, lead guitarist Ethan Robinson sprinkles in twinkling strums as Rogers sings of “thinking ‘bout you lately.”
Rumour Has It was recorded at FoxHole studios, with Noah Shilkin and Chad Blondel handling the production. Rogers recalls the kind of 80s rock vocals befitting of the track’s surrounding sonics, with his anthemic riffs serving as a contagious accompaniment to the gradually ascending instrumentation. Rumour Has It stands as a worthy addition to Satisfaction Guaranteed’s particular brand of garage rock, marking the quintet’s fourth single overall and first since last December’s Wandering.
Both tracks share a penchant for pop-leaning melodies, with Rumour Has It’s pre-chorus offering a catchy hook that defies traditional conceptions of rock music. Alongside Rumour Has It and Wandering, Satisfaction Guaranteed have also released their 2021 debut single Can’t You Hear Me Callin’ and follow-up track That’s How It Goes last February. Elsewhere, the Bunbury band are due to perform at Nannup Festival next month alongside the likes of William Crighton, Whiskey Jack and Nectar, among many others. Satisfaction Guaranteed has hosted a slew of headline shows, too, recently taking to Indian Ocean Hotel to launch Wandering alongside support act Veruca Moon. They are also set to perform at Albany’s Six Degrees venue towards the end of next month.
Given their record of releasing tracks equally as enjoyable when performed live — and their renown within Perth for fulfilling “all your mind and body’s needs” — Satisfaction Guaranteed’s live shows are certifiably unmissable. It’s no small feat for a band that emerged as recently as 2020, but with a banging new single like Rumour Has It as proof, Satisfaction Guaranteed is only just getting started.
