Watch simple animations on a vintage typewriter breathe new life into everyday words

Greg Condon has brought the world a small piece of genius in his animated short film Disillusionment of 10 Point Font. The clip takes the base typographical lesson of creating visual metaphors to the next level, presenting a series of whimsical clips brimming in disarmingly simple wordplay.

Condon used a Smith Corona Galaxie Deluxe typewriter to meticulously bring each word to life. You’ll need to see this one yourself.

Watch the typeset of a vintage Smith Corona Galaxie Deluxe typewriter explode with new life in a beautifully animated short film by Greg Condon.

Witnessing the aesthetic of a vintage typewriter definitely brings to mind the same warm, old-world nostalgia as leafing through a set of analogue photos or dropping the needle on a vinyl record. But as visually pleasing as Condon’s clip is, the sound design is equally worthy of applause.

The sound in Disillusionment of 10 Point Font was handled by One Thousand Birds, a commercial sound studio based in New York and Los Angeles. It matches the feel of the clip perfectly, never getting too far in your face or even jumping above much more than a whimper.
