St. Vincent takes a deep dive into rock history with the new podcast, History Listen: Rock.
St.Vincent has long established herself as a uniquely profound vocal talent, with some serious guitar chops. The “Marry Me” singer-songwriter, known best for her exquisite musical sensibilities, is bringing her talents and her charming and witty disposition to a new project.
St Vincent, aka Annie Clark, has geared up to host History Listen: Rock, a new podcast that shines a light on some of the biggest hit makers that transformed music as we know it, including Big Mama Thornton, the Sex Pistols, Jimi Hendrix, and Patti Smith.
“A history full of hit-makers, earth-shakers, electric noise, mannish boys, torn-up sneakers, and blown-out eardrums.” The original audio series – from Audible and Double Elvis Productions – is going back to some pivotal rock history moments that changed the direction of music.
Clark said, “It’s been so fun going back through rock history and revisiting some of my favorite artists and songs, including a bunch that don’t get the recognition they should. When you put it all together, you can see how history repeats and echoes through generations, how music links the past to the present, artist-to-artist. And some of these stories are absolutely wild.”
History Listen: Rock marks her second foray into the land of podcasting, the singer-songwriter recently released a personal and in-depth look at her musical journey with St. Vincent: Words + Music, marking the first in a series of collaborations between Audible and Clark.
St Vincent is also hitting the road again in 2023, joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their world tour, alongside big-name support acts, The Strokes, the Mars Volta, Thundercat, City and Colour, Iggy Pop, King Princess, and the Roots.
History Listen: Rock is set to debut on January 12. Check out the trailer for the forthcoming podcast below:
