St. Vincent’s raw, folky Tiny Desk performance will hit you in all the right places

St. Vincent is one of the best rock guitarists active today, without a doubt. Her stark, jarring, fuzz-laden style is a truly awesome to watch, and if you ever get the chance to catch her live I guarantee you’ll sit there whole time entranced by her fretwork.

So when the newest NPR Tiny Desk session popped up this morning featuring St. Vincent and an acoustic guitar, we didn’t quite no what to expect. But, of course, Annie Clark is not only a fantastic guitarist, but an excellent songwriter. No matter what she’s playing on, her tunes shine.

St Vincent

Watch St. Vincent ditch the electric guitar and perform a raw, stripped-back Tiny Desk session on NPR.

During the session she bangs out three tracks, New York, Los Ageless, and Slow Disco, all from her most recent album, MASSEDUCTION. Stripped-back and raw, the songs take on a new dimension. And Clark, as usual, oozes cool in a red beret and dark shades.

There’s a bit of footage of St. Vincent playing acoustically out there on the interwebs, but this is one of the best performances by a long shot. Watch below!
