Sydney producer Dro Carey returns with a euphoric new double single

Dro Carey, the moniker of Soothsayer-signed Sydney producer Eugene Ward, has dropped his first new music of 2019.

Act Like You’re Home / Hemisphere are two cuts of rapturous electronic music, night closers best enjoyed with your hands above your head, deep into a dance amongst the people you love.

Dro Carey has shared his first new music of 2019, crafting two tracks which bleed total elation. Listen to Act Like You’re Home and Hemisphere today.

After a big 2018 which saw Dro Carey dip once more into UK-inspired territory – releasing huge collab tracks with the likes of Kwame, Genesis Owusu, Raj Mahal, and Renz – Act Like You’re Home and Hemisphere again prove this producer’s willingness to bounce between styles with poise and consistency.

Act Like You’re Home sees Dro Carey form an internet alliance with Beni Moun and Julietta, who both provide vocals. Speaking about the track, Ward shared:

“I started to get this I Feel Love (by Donna Summer) and Supernature (by Cerrone) feeling for a potential direction in the instrumental. Soothsayer suggested Beni Moun and I thought his stuff was amazing, so we got working together.”

“It evolved in various ways, becoming this thing that’s part house, part disco, and a little anthemic. I approached Julietta about a verse and ended up doubling the chorus, since the combination of their voices is so cool. This track represents the internet-connected creative process for collaboration – the excitement, serendipity and freedom that it presents.”

Hemisphere bookends the double release, a more club-savvy cut that brings a similarly rapturous energy. According to Dro Carey’s label Soothsayer, this release forms the first taste of a new chapter from the artist. Count us interested – but for now, enjoy these two tunes above.
