Ned Flanders themed metal band Okilly Dokilly just made it onto an actual episode of The Simpsons.
Forming in 2015, they claim to be the world’s first “Nedal” band, basing tracks on Springfield’s most pious citizen in the most facemelting way possible. The result is brutal.
The band’s founding members, Head Ned and Bled Ned said the band started off as a joke, and then quickly materialised. Clad in green jumpers and circular specs, Okilly Dokilly appeared on an episode of The Simpsons last week.
A cut from their sophomore album Howdilly Twodilly, the White Wine Spritzer music video aired in the closing credits of a Simpsons episode last week. Longtime showrunner for the series Al Jean told told Rolling Stone the video got the green light as soon as it came to their attention.
“We saw the video and knew they had to be on the show…We do not endorse their message of indiscriminate drinking of white wine spritzers.”
According to Okilly Dokilly frontman Head Ned, the band is over the moon.
“I’m very much in disbelief. It’s like this is just a strange alternate universe and I’m gonna wake up the next day and it’s just like, ‘No, you didn’t start the Ned Flanders band, you still work in accounting,’ and I’ll be like, ‘Well alright, at least my imagination knows how to have a good time.’”
