The Good Sports 2

Need to take a time-out from the world but can’t find the right music to suit? Well, The Good Sports have you covered with their fuzzed out garage rock EP Mandarin Time.

Brisbanites Nash, Andre, Bridie (ex-Creases drummer) and Jake’s own brand of psych-ish garage rock is heaps gritty, pretty old-school and just generally good fun. Recently releasing their 6-track debut EP Mandarin Time, this awesome foursome give you loads of fuzzed-out tunes, perfect for throwing on when you want to give zero fucks for awhile.

Swirly guitars churn around in debut single and opener Out of the Way. Add some stoner vibes, courtesy of the track’s sleepy vocals and hazy harmonies, and you’re well on your way to that blissfully lazy vegged out state. Jangling psych-pop track Any Other Way then gives you some garage grit to sink your teeth into before we get even dirtier drum action in Walking.

Lazy beats continue in dreamy Shooting Through and cosmic instrumental Astrophysicist Of The 70’s. But, the all-rounder award goes to No Sleep Pt. 2. Lo-fi garage rock, 60’s reverberating pop and Beach Boys-esque harmonies make for one seriously awesome psychedelic ride. Better still, this track not only shows these kids can make cool new music for our earholes, but trippy clips for our eyeballs too.

If you dig some laid back vibes with your psych then these good sports have you covered. Sharing the stage with the likes of Velociraptor, Babaganouj, Drunk Mums, The Ocean Party and Major Leagues and recently playing at The Blurst Of Times Festival, these Brisbanites are full of cool, lazy tunes to while away your day.
