The Rucksaks return with brand-new summertime anthem Deadweight

Since releasing their first single Smokebomb in July of last year, Sydney quintet The Rucksaks have quickly become one of our favourite emerging Aussie bands. With their infectious blend of sounds, the band are never not a good time.

Now, with the release of their latest single Deadweight, the five-piece continue to build upon their bright and addictive indie-rock sounds.

With the release of their seriously infectious new single Deadweight, Sydney based five-piece The Rucksaks continue to establish themselves as purveyors of good times.

Throughout the new single, The Rucksaks glide through a summery concoction of alt-rock, indie-pop and psychedelia to craft a sound uniquely their own. With woozy guitar lines, air-tight percussion and irresistible vocal hooks, Deadweight is the kind of song we can picture taking over Sunday-arvo playlists all across the country.

As the band traverse between dreamy verses and jangly choruses, they create a truly dynamic listening experience. Across the track’s three-and-a-half-minute duration, the group pull in myriad directions – Deadweight never sits in one place for too long, and this is perhaps the track’s most endearing feature. One moment you’ll be floating through layers of ethereal guitars, and the next you’ll have your beer raised in the air, singing along to the band’s euphoric vocal melodies.

Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long to hear what The Rucksaks deliver next. Though for now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new single above.
