The signatures sign off quite a lengthy letter, collectively written by the climate activist group. The statement admits that that indeed the music industry is responsible for having a considerably large carbon footprint, however, those in the industry are committed to universal change for the betterment of the environment.

Dear journalists who have called us hypocrites,” The letter begins.”You’re right.”

The primary aim of the letter is to encourage mainstream media to turn their attention away from shallow name-calling and shaming and to focus instead on dedicating a united effort to document the climate crisis and urge others to get involved.

British Comedian Steve Coogan stated in all seriousness that “Extinction Rebellion is a grassroots movement that should be applauded for putting this issue at the top of the agenda where it belongs.”
