The Coen Brothers have shared some details for their upcoming movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and it’s set to star Tim Blake Nelson, Stephen Root, Liam Neeson and… Tom Waits!
The film was originally set to be a six-part Netflix series, though has since been altered into a 132-minute feature film.
Good news Tom Waits fans, the legendary artist is set to return to the screen this August in the new Coen Brothers film The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
Joel and Ethan Coen are the duo responsible for such titles as No Country For Old Men, Fargo, True Grit, and The Big Lebowski.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival this August, and will arrive on Netflix later this year.
“We’ve always loved anthology movies, especially those films made in Italy in the Sixties which set side-by-side the work of different directors on a common theme,” the Coen Brothers say of the new movie.
“Having written an anthology of Western stories we attempted to do the same, hoping to enlist the best directors working today. It was our great fortune that they both agreed to participate.”
This will not be Waits’ first onscreen appearance this year, as he recently featured in Robert Redford’s last film The Old Man and The Gun alongside Sissy Spacek, Danny Glover, and more.
