Viagra Boys announce their first ever Australian headline tour

Swedish punks Viagra Boys have just announced their first-ever headline tour of Australia. Along with their forthcoming appearance at this year’s Meredith Music Festival in December, the band have announced dates in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Viagra Boys burst onto the scene last year with their debut album STREET WORMS, which garnered widespread critical acclaim. Pitchfork called the lead single Sports ‘Best New Track’. The group have also used their platform for worthy causes such as criticising hyper-masculinity and patriarchal structures (their band name is a prime example).

Swedish punk band Viagra Boys have announced their first-ever headline tour of Australia, with dates set in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

Their tour dates are placed both sides of the Meredith Music Festival, which will run from the 13th to the 15th of December and also features artists such as Julia Jacklin and Roisin Murphy.

Along with their acclaimed musicianship, Viagra Boys have been praised for their use of satire and black humour. Frontman Sebastian Murphy’s stage persona has also been compared to the ultimate pioneer of punk rock, Iggy Pop.

Their live tour will kick off in Sydney, then head up to Brisbane before heading down to Victoria for the Meredith Music Festival, before finally wrapping things up in Melbourne.
