Video Premiere: Draw – Ish

Who said they hate Mondays? You? Well not anymore you don’t. Turn that apathetic frown upside down as you feast your eyeballs on the worldwide premiere of the video for Ish, the new single from Draw.

Draw

Fresh new video premiere coming at ya! Today we have the dark and ambiguous newbie for Ish from Sydney’s Draw.

Since forming in 2013, Sydney’s Draw have wasted no time making an impression on the local music scene. Their mesmerising live performances have ensnared the hearts and minds of all those who have seen them grace the stage and as such has earned Draw a loyal following. With their debut EP Wave Rider Blues ready to drop come November 10, the boys have revealed the clip for their latest single Ish.

Is ‘ish’ even a word you ask? Who knows, but it’s a strange and ambiguous word that is for sure. And so it is fitting that such a word is given an appropriately ambiguous video clip that is steeped in an air of mystery. The clip is executed simply enough; the band play the song in a dilapidated room whilst submerged in darkness, flashing spotlights revealing their presence. The black and white aesthetic is fitting for the song, the subdued colour (or tone, depending on how into your colours you are) scheme plays well with the mellow nature of the song. The crooning vocals coupled with the atmospheric guitars and keys have a soothing effect.

What gives this track it’s real kick is the bass, it’s constant punctuating rhythm adding a slightly unnerving tone to the proceedings that is heightened by the various creepy images flashed throughout the clip. Crawling insects, a shrouded moon, kaleidoscopic images and face paint that would make The Crow tremble with jealousy, the clip for Ish boasts some strange yet evocative imagery. There’s a lot of fun to be had re-watching this clip and trying to peel back the layers of each image.

In short, this is the perfect clip to stir up those spooky vibes come this Halloween season!
