This May, Sydney’s annual light, music and art festival Vivid will return… and this morning, they’ve unveiled their absolutely huge 2019 program. So prepare yourselves, bcause a bunch of the globe’s biggest and best artists are about to descend on our city for a month of brilliant art.
Last month, The Cure were announced as the festival’s first headliner. Soon after, Rufus Dü Sol were announced for a string of shows. But now, the motherload has dropped. And oh boy…
Vivid Sydney is back for another year, this time featuring such acts as FKA Twigs, Paul Kelly, Herbie Hancock, Maggie Rogers, and more!
As has come to be expected from Vivid, this year’s music program is absolutely top-notch. Carriageworks will be hosting such names as FKA Twigs, Mallrat, and Hayden James, while the iconic Sydney Opera House will feature Maggie Rogers, Sharon Van Etten, Underworld, and see the only Sydney performance from jazz legend Herbie Hancock.
Also laying down performances as part of the festival will be Stella Donnelly, The Dirty Three, I Know Leopard, and Paul Kelly.
In another huge announcement, the trailblazing director Spike Lee will be giving insight into his story, delivering a talk as part of the Vivid Ideas program.
And, once again, your pals here at Happy Mag will be throwing another Vivid party… this time at The Marlborough Hotel. On May 24th, we’ll be launching Issue 11 (our next annual Photo Issue) with a full Marly takeover. The lineup is yet to drop, but rest assured, it’s our biggest to date.
