The latest track from lauded writer/producer UNO Stereo continues a personal string of quality R&B singles
Grammy nominated, Naarm-based producer and songwriter UNO Stereo has shared the music video for his summer-shaded new single “Passengers”, a downtempo collaboration with Sydney vocalist Liyah Knight.
In the clip, UNO and Liyah pose before a projection of evening sky flanked by potted palms. The camera lingers on the pair in an alluring contrast between granular security-cam footage and 2160p slow pans.
“This song happened so spontaneously,” says UNO Stereo, “we were listening to some samples and ideas, and Liyah heard the start of this song. She was humming along to it straight away.”
Clips of UNO and Liyah’s silhouettes overlaid on a rich brown backdrop, interwoven with keyhole glimpses back into the studio, accentuate the track’s danceable dreaminess.
The fluidity of the video mirrors the quiet-storm silkiness of the song.
“Not being in the driver’s seat for once, which is new for me as a producer… it is pretty hard to let go sometimes. I think this song is a reminder that, you don’t have to be in control of an experience, you can just be a passenger to it.”
