Watch Vampire Weekend perform at a Bernie Sanders rally

Last Saturday, Vampire Weekend performed a set of their classic tracks at a rally for Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders.

This wasn’t the first time the band have supported Sanders at one of his rallies. The last time was during Sanders bid in 2016.

Following Justin Vernon’s performance on Friday night, Vampire Weekend took the stage on Saturday to show their support for Bernie Sanders.

The rally took place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where the band performed 2021, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, Holiday, This Life, and a cover of The Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy. Vampire Weekend’s set follows Justin Vernon of Bon Iver who played another similar rally the day prior. Vernon’s set was filled with a mix of classic Bon Iver tracks and a handful of Bob Dylan songs, including With God on Our Side and The Times They Are-a-Changin’.

Killer Mike of Run The Jewels and The Strokes have also put their backing behind Sanders, with the latter joining one of his rallies on Feb 10th. The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas released a statement regarding his bands backing of Sanders, “We are honored to be associated with such a dedicated, diligent, & trustworthy patriot—and fellow native New Yorker. As the only truly non-corporate candidate, Bernie Sanders represents our only chance to overthrow corporate power and help return America to democracy. This is why we support him.”

It seems that many bands are beginning to feel the Bern with Sanders popularity skyrocketing lately ahead of the Monday caucus.
