Yamaha wants to give emerging music makers the chance to win $5000 in cash and $5000 worth of music gear.
Since 2025, Yamaha Music Australia has been running its Main Stage Grant programme, giving music makers access to tools that will accelerate their creative careers.
Application categories for the grant include artists/songwriters, bands, and music and production studios. Each category winner will receive $5000 in cash plus $5000 worth of Yamaha gear.
Applicants are required to apply here and submit an original recording. Applications will be assessed by the judging panel. Finalists will be announced on the 27th of October 2026, with grant recipients announced on the 11th of November 2026.
The previous year’s recipients, Beryl, reflected on the opportunities sparked by the grant, saying: “It genuinely helped move our career forward. The grant helped us record our upcoming third album, and it also provided us with some great Yamaha gear to take on tour.”
As well as providing opportunities for emerging music makers, Yamaha is a proud supporter of Support Act. For every application Yamaha receives, it will donate $5 to Support Act, which provides crisis relief and support for the wellbeing and mental health of musicians, managers, music workers, crew and organisations across the industry.
Mitch Kelly from Yamaha Music remarks: “The response to Main Stage last year was incredible and confirmed there was a real demand for a program like this. What stood out most wasn’t just the volume of applications, but the quality of the talent and the stories behind them. It reinforced our belief that Main Stage could become something much bigger than we originally imagined, and after hearing so many incredible stories from artists across Australia, it’s hard not to want to do more. Beyond the grant, we’ve supported artists with product, content creation and tour announcements, and we’re working to grow Main Stage into a wider support community.”
