Hyperrealism is a term that’s being thrown around a lot lately in the art world. Even we’re a little guilty of it. However, despite the apparent saturation of artists employing this style we’ve never come across a painter who’s style is as mind-blowingly indistinguishable from reality as that of Yigal Ozeri.
Employing mainly oil on paper with a frankly unbelievable attention to detail, his art jumps the uncanny valley completely, delving so far into the real world that his work could fool anyone but the most meticulous art connoisseur.
Real life or oil painting? Yigal Ozeri’s artwork is so realistic that we’ve been staring at it for hours and still can’t find a single brushstroke.
There’s unfortunately limited media available of Ozeri at work. A single picture (below) shows him working with an ultra-fine brush on the detail of one of his works. His space, technique and process would be amazing to witness.
See a few of the portraits below, and if you can find any giveaways that these aren’t in fact photos, please let us know.
