Youtube share details of their new music streaming service, set to launch this week

In their latest bid to crack into the music streaming market, YouTube have shared details of their new, revamped version of YouTube Music.

With their new and improved streaming service, YouTube will look to take on the big dogs of the streaming world; Spotify, Apple Music, and to a lesser extent Tidal.

YouTube are having another cop at breaking into the music streaming business, with a new service set to launch in Australia tomorrow.

While the app is not yet available, screenshots shared by the company indicate it will operate similarly to Spotify, with the ability to browse albums and songs, and add them into a personal library.

A distinct advantage of YouTube music is its huge library, which packs a whopping 45 million songs. Hooly dooly.

The new service will be available in two tiers, the first being YouTube Music, a free, ad-supported tier. The second will be YouTube Music Premium, which will feature ad-free access to tunes, and set you back $13 a month.

YouTube Music and Premium will initially be available in Australia, the US, New Zealand, and Mexico, with plans to soon expand into Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

The new service is set to drop May 22nd.
