5 stars for the band name, 5 stars for the sound. Perfect Hair Forever released their 10 track album, Void, last November through Crystal Magic Records, which has its roots in New Zealand but now operates out of a bedroom in Sydney.
This album is amazing. After one listen, I’d bought it for MORE than minimum price (which says a lot considering I ate a can of chickpeas for dinner last night for the third time in a row). I’ll let the presser info do the talking here…
“Perfect Hair Forever is a bedroom pop-punk from Auckland, New Zealand. Relentlessly prolific, piercing and forever a hopeless Ramonesian-Romantic. Perfect Hair Forever has a fierce knack for presenting teen angst as a RTD-thrill-ride through the suburban-backstreets of our teen regrets. Recording his songs in parents-are-out isolation, so he can howl his penchant vocal-melodies in their tiled bathroom.
VOID is positioned in that fantastic inter-zone where concept-angst punk-rock bangs hard against intimate-modern bedroom production. Forlorn at 180bpm. Riding a sugar-high ‘til you car-crash. Empty streets reverberating with bored rubbish removal vandalism. Come stare directly at the sun with Perfect Hair Forever, together we’ll stand at the edge town, slack-jawed deep in the VOID.”
Fuck. Yes.
