Bruce Springsteen has announced Western Stars, his first album in five years. It’s set to be quite a sweeping piece, and Hello Sunshine is our first taste.

Springsteen has elaborated on the album in a press release stating, “This record is a return to my solo recordings featuring character-driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements.”

The iconic American musician has further stated the record is inspired by “Southern California pop records of the late ’60s and early ’70s” and explores a “sweeping range of American themes, of highways and desert spaces, of isolation and community and the permanence of home and hope.”

Western Stars is Bruce Springsteen’s first record since 2014’s High Hopes. However, in 2017, he debuted Springsteen on Broadway, an intimate one-man show that was later released as a Netflix special and album.

Western Stars is out via Columbia on June 14.
