Bill Murray slept through his lifetime achievement award press conference

Bill Murray is about as unconventional as actors get. He’s a man who plays by his own rules; he famously doesn’t have an agent, and rarely stands on ceremony.

So it should be no surprise, then, that over the weekend he missed a press conference celebrating his lifetime achievement award in film because he was sleeping.

Over the weekend, the legendary Bill Murray missed a press conference celebrating his lifetime achievement award because he was sleeping.

The Ghostbusters and Lost In Translation actor was honoured at this year’s Rome Film Fest with the prestigious award, and was set to appear at both a press conference and an awards ceremony on Saturday. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he slept through the press conference that was arranged earlier in the day.

Murray did, however, wake up in time for a Close Encounters panel session later that day, where he received his lifetime achievement award from director and frequent collaborator Wes Anderson. Murray has had some involvement in every one of Anderson’s films, a tradition that is set to continue with the forthcoming feature film The French Dispatch.

During the later panel session, Murray confirmed his return as Dr Peter Venkman in Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters sequel, stating that he thinks that audiences are “going to be happy with this one.”

Ghostbusters 2020 is due to arrive in cinemas in July next year.
