If there is one thing that 2020 has taught us so far, it’s that COVID-19 does not discriminate. A number of famous people around the world have sadly lost their battle to the respiratory illness, with the virus claiming one more life overnight.
Former Republican presidential candidate and influential businessman, Herman Cain has died from complications with COVID-19.
After fighting COVID-19 for several weeks, it was announced on Twitter that former presidential candidate Herman Cain has passed away.
Mr Cain, 74, ran in the 2012 Republican presidential primary won by Mitt Romney and was a successful businessman. Cain was also the co-chair of Black Voices for Trump.

In a condolence tweet, President Donald Trump stated:
“My friend Herman Cain, a Powerful Voice of Freedom and all that is good, passed away this morning. Herman had an incredible career and was adored by everyone that ever met him, especially me. He was a very special man, an American Patriot, and great friend.”
Republican senator Lindsey Graham also took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Cain:
“I was very sorry to hear of the passing of #HermanCain, a friend and great voice for conservatism. Mr. Cain was a successful businessman and a fierce advocate for conservative principles across the board. He made a big difference in his life and will be missed.”
The US is currently sitting at 4.57 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and over 154,000 deaths. Cain’s passing certainly signifies a nation struggling to get on top of the pandemic and its devastation.
