From September 19-21, the D&D Celebration 2020 will be a fully online event to celebrate the release of Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Get out your character sheets and dice bags, because beginning early on Saturday 19th, the D&D Celebration 2020 begins!
Starting at 12:45am on Saturday for us Australians, the official Dungeons & Dragons online event will begin with Elle Osili-Wood’s host introduction. The three day event can be registered for here, and will not only be a good time, but also a fundraiser for Extra Life and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The three-day virtual event will be focusing on the fans and community of the world’s original and best roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons. The event will include Icewind Dale themed virtual play sessions, sneak peaks at content from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, featured play sessions with D&D luminaries, plus D&D design team and community-led panels.
Players will preview new content from the massive rules update and new customisable options from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything for the first time. The update will bring new classes, feats, spells, items, puzzles, and more to the D&D we know and love, and stands as largest content drop since Xanathar’s Guide to Everything’s release nearly three years ago. The full contents of Tasha’s Cauldron will be available in November.

Dungeons & Dragons aim to make the event the biggest virtual tabletop roleplaying event in the world, with fans all over the globe tuning in to watch and play together. Once fans have registered for the event, they will be able to sign up for D&D Adventurers League game sessions with Dungeon Masters provided. There are over 400 virtual games to register for, but many may already be full so get on it quick! Take care to make sure your chosen game fits with the correct timezone.
Players will be able to sign up for sessions here, but will need a Wizards account to do so. The sessions include two-hour adventures that are perfect for level one to four characters, and will include a brand new ‘D&D Epic’. All players, from ordinary folk to celebrities and local influencers, will be working towards the same goal to defend Icewind Dale.
Even more importantly is that all Wizards of the Coast proceeds from the ticket sales and special apparel will be used to support Extra Life and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Follow the motto of Extra Life while having fun! “Play Games. Heal Kids.”
