Don’t be confused by the headline’s – Manson still has a Grammy nom, and his Best Rap Song removal has nothing to do with abuse allegations.
Although Marilyn Manson has lost his nomination for Best Rap Song, don’t be fooled into thinking the Grammy’s have listened to the public’s outcry. He’s still nominated for Album of the Year for his work on Kanye West‘s DONDA.
Originally nominated for his work on Ye’s Jail, Manson was recently removed from the song’s credits, and Billboard has claimed this has nothing to do with the incredulous abuse allegations he is facing.

Apparently, the Academy has determined that Manson’s efforts were actually put into the song Jail pt 2 (not Jail, which is nominated for Best Rap Song), and therefore they’ve revoked his Grammy nomination in this category.
This news sounds like a triumph at first, but we’re quickly disheartened to learn that Manson still holds a Grammy nomination, and the Academy still refuses to listen to the public.
Manson is currently facing numerous allegations, and three lawsuits, surrounding the alleged sexual, emotional, and physical abuse of several previous partners. It seems to be a pretty general consensus that it’s wrong to give this man a Grammy nomination, but Recording Academy president and CEO Harvey Mason, Jr. has made it clear how they feel:
“We won’t restrict the people who can submit their material for consideration. We won’t look back at people’s history, we won’t look at their criminal record.”
The Academy make adjustment’s to the nomination’s list every year, from misspelt names to adding overlooked producers and reprising artists who were inadvertently left off. Manson’s removal from Best Rap song is one of many other changes made to this year’s list.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking the Grammy’s have done good here – they’re still shit.
