Live stream event: Olivia Harrison in conversation with Martin Scorsese

Olivia Harrison recently published a beautiful book of poems Came the Lightening – Twenty Poems for George to mark the 20th anniversary of her husband George Harrison’s passing.

Martin Scorsese who penned the Foreword to Olivia’s new book, and a self-professed Beatles fan, is taking to The 92nd Street Y non-profit community and cultural centre with Olivia Harrison to discuss the book and all things George Harrison. And the good news, is you don’t have to be in NY to attend it. The event is set to be Livesteamed on Sun, Nov 20, 2022, 8 pm ET.

The evening’s conversation will explore the intimate stories of grief and sustained emotional connection told through Olivia’s deeply moving poems, Scorsese’s longtime fascination with George’s music, and much more.

‘Olivia evokes the most fleeting gestures and instants, plucked from the flow of time and memory and felt through her choice of words and the overall rhythm… She might have done an oral history or a memoir. Instead, she composed a work of poetic autobiography.’ – Martin Scorsese

The event will be available to ticket holders to attend in person and to watch via a global live stream, at 8 pm EST. For anyone interested in tuning in for the online session, send an email to you92NY and they will send you the login details to watch the Live stream.

Genesis who published the poetry collection currently has a special deal and secured a special allocation of in-person tickets (each worth $55) and online tickets (worth $25) to give away to subscribers ordering the signed, limited edition of Came the Lightening when you select the edition and ticket option on the webpage.

Harrison reflects upon her life with George and explores the intimacy and the deep emotional bond they shared throughout their marriage. Harrison dives into the depths of what it means to lose a partner and the insights that can only come with the passing of time through this beautiful series of poems

The Came the Lightening collection includes stunning photos, by iconic photographers Henry Grossman, Sue Flood, and Mary McCartney, and artist, photographer, and filmmaker Marcus Tomlinson. A drawing by artist and musician Klaus Voormann is also included, all of which was curated by Olivia, including mementoes of their time together.

Books are expected to be dispatched early in December.
