Every January National Pies, the pie connoisseur of Tasmania, kicks off its Hottest Pie Hundred competition.

Blending a love for music and pies, they are creating a unique fusion that resonates with the spirit of an Aussie summer.

The competition invites enthusiasts to vote for the most pie-tastic tune from the curated Spotify playlist, promising not only a treat for the ears but also a reward for the taste buds.

The grand prize? A treasure trove comprising 100 National Pies and 100 cans of Tassie’s finest beer.

National Pies CEO, Geraldine Tebbutt, shares “We have a very exciting new playlist, which is bigger and better because all 100 songs are eligible for voting,” The playlist, a musical journey through the world of pies, offering up a mix of classic pie anthems and undiscovered gems, making it a must-listen for any true-blue pie aficionado.

Geraldine highlights the playlist’s role as an Aussie staple, perfect for backyard barbecues or road trips, emphasizing the joy in discovering unique pie-themed tunes. “Of course, people love to hear the classic pie songs, but it’s also fun to discover more unique tunes and learn how many songs about pies actually exist.”

I guess the burning question remains: Who will claim the coveted Hottest Pie Hundred crown this year? Will it be Don McLean, serenading with his timeless “American Pie,” or could The Wiggles steal the throne with their rendition of Neil Diamond’s whimsical “Porcupine Pie”?
