‘Make America Go Away’
This hat has gone viral after it cleverly twists Donald Trump’s infamous “Make America Great Again” slogan.
A man from Greenland named Aannguaq Reimer-Johansen posted an image to Facebook of a red hat, reading “Make America Go Away,” which quickly caught the attention of social media users.
It comes in light of Trump’s recent announcements about his worrying desire to annex the autonomous Danish territory of Greenland for the U.S.’s ownership, “one way or the other.”
Usha Vance, the U.S.’s second lady, is set to embark on a trip to Greenland this week.
Officially, she’s there to witness a dog sled race and promote U.S.-Greenland relations but for many locals, her arrival feels more like a “charm offensive.”
Vice President JD Vance, national security advisor Mike Waltz, and energy secretary Chris Wright are also set to visit Greenland as part of the U.S. delegation.
Múte Bourup Egede, Greenland’s outgoing Prime Minister, recently made a statement on the U.S.’s official visits, dubbing them “highly aggressive.”
“What is the national security adviser doing in Greenland? The only purpose is to demonstrate power over us.”
“His mere presence in Greenland will no doubt fuel American belief in Trump’s mission – and the pressure will increase.”
One user said on X, “If you smile at them or take a selfie with them, you are sending a message to the world that you love the USA and want to be part of it.”
The hat has gone viral for poking fun at Trump while sending a clear message about Greenland’s stance on U.S. involvement.
As people expressed their admiration for the hat, many wondered where they could snag one.
Comments flooded in from users eager to wear the statement, with some suggesting a Canadian version, amongst other countries.
Who knows, maybe we’ll even see a few down under.
