Flight AY666 has become something of a running joke between the staff of Finnish airline Finnair. Aside from the satanic connotations of the flight number, flight 666 happens to fall on Friday the 13th every year. And if that wasn’t enough to ward off even the most mildly superstitious, last week the flight happened to be nonstop from Copenhagen to Helsinki – that’s CPH > HEL.
Flight 666, Friday the 13th to HEL – that’s metal as fuck.
A journey fit for the devil, last week flight 666 took off on Friday the 13th bound for hell and somehow landed safely.
To make matters worse this year the plane itself reportedly just turned 13 years old, which officially made the flight the unluckiest of all time. Somehow, it landed in Helsinki unharmed and on schedule (more or less).
Despite flying to hell on Friday the 13th, Finnar pilot Juha-Pekka Keidasto said he doesn’t fear the journey. “It has been quite a joke among the pilots,” he said previously. “I’m not a superstitious man. It’s only a coincidence for me. If there’s some passenger who is anxious about this 666, our cabin crew is always happy to help them.”
Brave, brave man.
