Horror movies and supergroups, two awesome things that can only work well together. This is exactly the point in mind for production company Hear My Eyes who are enlisting the efforts of members from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, as well as a stack of other Aussie artists to write an entirely new score for the Italian horror classic Suspiria.
Suspiria, originally directed by Dario Argento, will be receiving the full works from Stu Mackenzie, Joey Walker and Michael Cavenagh (all from King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard), to be performed live beneath a screening of the film at Hamer Hall Arts Centre in Melbourne.
Joining the psych-rock masterminds will be the likes of Carolyn Schofield (Fia Fell), Genevieve Fry (Cold Hands Warm Heart) as well as the Melbourne Chamber Choir who fill be responsible for some eerie Gregorian chants.
Hear My Eyes, the specialists in putting on productions that feature live music alongside film screenings, have vowed to a donate $5 from every ticket sold to a variety of bushfire relief causes including RFS, CFA, Wild Life Victoria, Animals Australia, and The Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities.
There will be two live performances of the new film score at Hamer Arts Hall on the 1st of March at 4pm and again at 8pm. Tickets are going for $79 and are available here.
