Amelia Dimoldenberg is saying goodbye to Chicken Shop Date

Amelia Dimoldenberg has spent her twenties at the chicken shop. Now she’s moving on

After more than a decade of awkward silences, deadpan flirting and some of the biggest names in the world sitting across from her over chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg is ready to call time on Chicken Shop Date.

The British social media star announced that the beloved celebrity interview series will soon come to an end. Final episodes on the way.

“I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date. I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will be.” The 32-year-old said in an Instagram announcement. “But I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one.”

It’s a slightly surreal way to close a show that has become so synonymous with Dimoldenberg that it’s difficult to imagine one without the other.

She started Chicken Shop Date as a teenager, initially creating it as a column for a youth publication.

In 2014, she brought the concept to YouTube.

Her deliberately awkward approach to celebrity interviews slowly became something much bigger than a novelty.

Dimoldenberg reflected on her journey in her Instagram caption, describing the series as her “very own romcom.”

Admitting just how much of her twenties she spent sitting opposite people she had once only dreamed of meeting.

“I’ve spent my entire twenties sitting across from the most incredible people, people I’d always dreamt of meeting,” she wrote.

It would be easy to look at the end of Chicken Shop Date as the end of an era. It certainly is.

But Dimoldenberg has already spent more than a decade proving that she doesn’t need a conventional route to build something lasting.

So if Chicken Shop Date really was her twenties’ very own romcom, perhaps this is simply the part where the credits roll. Before the next adventure begins.
