When you walk past the witty street art of Michael Pederson, you might not even notice it’s there. His installations are small, often minuscule – but that’s the point.
In a effort to encourage the average downtrodden Sydney commuter to pay more attention to their surroundings, Pedersen’s art is disguised as regular signage or hidden in plain sight. If you want to find some of it, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled.
Stop looking down at your phone and start looking out for the funny street art of Michael Pedersen, who has been leaving installations all over Sydney.
From amusing signs that “curate the mundane” to interactive public installations, Pederson’s urban antics are sure to draw smiles from anybody perceptive enough to notice them.
“I think we travel through urban space without really seeing it most of the time,” Pederson told CityLab. “I like the idea of interfering with the overly familiar background blur … Ideally with something a passerby might see out of the corner of an eye.”
See a few more of Pedersen’s pieces below, and make sure you head to his website if you want to find out more – or stumble across some clues as to where you might find one of his quirky little pieces.
