In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Yours and Owls Festival 2023, it’s crucial to address some important matters regarding safety and enjoyment.
First and foremost, let’s talk about the legalities. The festival maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal drug use on-site, aligning with real-world regulations. However, recognising that strict abstinence is often an unrealistic expectation, organisers have collaborated closely with law enforcement, medical personnel, and security teams to mitigate risks.
Ultimately, festival-goers are urged to take personal responsibility for their actions, both before and during the event, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Should you or any of your companions feel unwell, prompt assistance is readily available. Seek out the Dancewize crew, event staff, or security, and head straight to the medical tent for judgment-free aid. Remember, seeking medical help will not lead to any legal repercussions – your safety is everyone’s utmost concern.
Regarding pill testing, it’s important to note that until the NSW Labour Government greenlights this proven harm minimisation tool, it cannot be implemented at the event. We remain hopeful for future approval.
It’s worth mentioning that NSW Police will be present with drug dogs and may conduct strip searches. Familiarise yourself with your rights in such situations before entering the event, and seek legal advice if you believe those rights have been violated.
For additional support, Dancewize and UOW’s Respectful Communities (SARC) team will be on-site during and after the event. You can find them conveniently located next to the Young Henry’s Pub and adjacent to the medical zone at Das Schmelthaus.
