Our biggest party ever is next month. Today, we’re stoked to announce the first lineup drop for 5 x 5 x 5: Happy Mag’s 5th Birthday.
On Friday November 22nd we’ll be taking over all five levels of the Kings Cross Hotel, and entry won’t cost you a cent. Here’s who we’ve invited along.
Time for a party. Here are the first set of artists playing Happy Mag’s 5th Birthday on Friday November 22nd at Kings Cross Hotel.
Happy Mag’s 5th Birthday will also mark the opening night of Bacardi’s Summer of Music. In partnership with Kings Cross Hotel, they’re bringing Sydney a massive summer music program – as it should be!
On November 22nd each level of the Kings Cross Hotel will have its own unique vibe, from the main band room on Level 4, to an acoustic stage on the pristine balcony, to the darkened club stage on Level 3.
Brisbane rockers The Goon Sax are headlining the band stage, playing their first Sydney show since February. A band hailed by everyone from their local scene to Pitchfork and Billboard, we couldn’t be more excited to have this incredible three-piece on board.
They’ll be backed up by rowdy Melbourne punks Private Function, who ripped through the country not long ago on their St. Anger album tour. Joining them will be local indie quartet Sunscreen, Annie Hamilton, and The Uplifting Bell Ends.
The club stage will see Dro Carey playing his first Sydney show since Bad Friday festival in April. Regular triple j spots and collaborations with Kwame, Genesis Owusu, KUČKA and others have cemented Dro as one of Australia’s finest up-and-coming dance music forces, and his set will be one to remember.
Modular synth mastermind Land Systems will be backing up Dro Carey, with more Level 3 DJs to be announced.
On the Level 1 balcony you can expect stripped back sets from some of Sydney’s finest, with I OH YOU signee Brightness leading the charge. Also expect appearances from Ainsley Farrell, Ruben Neeson, Rees Lucia, and Tuppaware Party. Level 1 will be the perfect place to sink a few before the madness unfolds upstairs.
The Ground Floor of Kings Cross Hotel will be hosting the night’s more unique semi-acoustic performances, calling in the talents of Baby Beef, Otis Thomas, Luke Spook, and Dominic Breen. Call it a warm welcome to the night’s massive birthday celebrations.
RSVP to 5 x 5 x 5: Happy Mag’s 5th Birthday here. As always, the night is free.
