Daft Punk is a French electronic music duo formed in Paris in 1993 by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. They achieved massive popularity in the 1990s as proponents of the French House movement and are widely considered one of the greatest electronic acts in history.
Their debut album Homework was released via Virgin Records in 1997, followed by Discovery in 1999 which saw universal acclaim. Their live album Alive 2007, won a Grammy Award the same year for Best Electronic/Dance Album.
In 2013, Daft Punk left signed to Columbia Records and released Random Access Memories, winning five more Grammys. It would turn out to be the pair's final album – they announced their break-up in 2021 with a video titled Epilogue.
