Bec Sandridge is firing up the canons with another absolutely outrageous single.
Eyes Wide is a graceful, empowering testament to the limitations of emotional relations and the fear of abandonment.
Before she headlines our Issue 11 Launch Party next month, Bec Sandridge has dropped an explosive new single, Eyes Wide.
Throwing us under the mirrors and lights of an anxious club dance floor, Bec’s new single Eyes Wide warps the pop textbook with her signature slap of defiance. Sandridge atmospherically captures a lonely paranoia that is dramatically inescapable. Her vocals once again excite and melt our soul. There’s a rocket ship about to take off, and Bec is piloting that crazy ride.
Sandridge has an unbridled talent for abandoning pop tropes and instead inserts her own trademark guitar work into the mix, melting down the groove and dosing it up with flavour and flair. Drawing on influences the like Fleetwood Mac and Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sandridge’s lyrics are equally alluring and poetic.
On the track, Bec had this to say: “I began to question my relationship patterns during the recording process. I started asking myself is my behaviour instinctual, a long-ingrained habit or based on self-preservation and protection? The song looks at me discovering my own emotional boundaries and limitations.”
Furthermore, Bec Sandridge is headlining the Happy Mag Issue 11 Launch at Marly Bar in Newtown on May 24. Grab more info on that show here.
