bella amor has today (September 8) released her new single play the part. Detailing the experience of remaining perpetually in the friend-zone, the track extends upon amor’s proven knack for intimate and endearing songwriting, as anchored by pop melodies and an anthemic chorus.
play the part was co-written by Carla Webhe and Robby De Sa. It marks amor’s fourth single release of 2023, having previously shared the songs does it get boring, sentimental, and heart attack, alongside a featured spot on BLESSED’s Cut Too Deep.
“‘play the part’ is about falling in love with your best friend but sticking to the role of only being a best friend and disregarding any feelings toward them,” amor explained in a press statement. “This song is what the little voices in my head would say when I’m with them.”
The single extends upon amor’s well-deserved success of late, having performed five shows at this year’s BIGSOUND, including a set for Live Nation’s Ones To Watch showcase.

Elsewhere, the pop star forms part of the lineup for Springtime Festival in the Gold Coast, and will take to the stage alongside Spacey Jane and The Wombats for Grapevine Gathering Festival in October.
amor will also serve as the support act for Teenage Joans’ album tour later this year. It’s a fitting list of achievements for one of Australia’s most promising voices, but with her new single play the part, it’s clear that bella amor is just getting started.
