Billie Eilish Woody Harrelson Climate Change

Billie Eilish and Woody Harrelson join forces for a passionate video on the climate change emergency, urging fans to “take back power.”

“From California to the Amazon, our forests are burning. We are in a climate emergency,” Harrelson declares, as shots of him and Eilish speaking to camera are interspersed with images of the environment impacted by climate change. Eilish’s Ocean Eyes can be heard playing softly in the background.

“History shows us that when enough people rise up and demand change, those in power have no choice but to act.”

The video comes off the back of a recent speech made by climate change activist Greta Thunberg at the UN Climate Change Summit. Whilst the speech has been widely celebrated, it has also been met with some criticism from certain camps, including from Australian prime minister Scott Morrison, who warned against “needless” climate anxiety in children.

In Eilish and Harrelson’s video, the pair appeal to viewers to take climate change into their own hands, offering things that individuals can do to make a difference.

“We must take back power. That means voting for leaders who care about the future of our planet… supporting environmental movements like Greenpeace or Fridays For Future, a global youth movement inspired by Greta Thunberg, and doing what we can to live a greener lifestyle, like cutting out meat and dairy in your diet and reducing plastic use. Above all, keeping yourself informed and making your voice count.”

Eilish has announced that she’s working to make her 2020 tour more eco-friendly, asking fans to bring refillable water bottles to her concerts, among other things.
