During the 24-hour window, fans of the trailblazing South Korean group, lovingly dubbed “blinks,” helped BLACKPINK earn a whopping six million likes on YouTube. According to the video sharing platform’s public counter, the video has already topped the 100 million views-mark within 30 hours.

BLACKPINK is claiming the title of being one of the biggest girl bands in the world. Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa hit the ground running in 2016, with their debut album, Square One. Their stellar tracks, Whistle and Boombayah took out two No. 1 spots on the digital sales charts, in Korea and the US, making them the highest-charting female Korean act on Billboard’s Hot 100, and the first girl group to top Billboard‘s Artist 100 since the music company started charting music back in the late 50s.

K-pop is continuing its trajectory of owning the category of ‘most watched videos of all time’ upon release, with BTS still in first place with their videos, Butter (108.2 million views in 2021) and Dynamite (101.1 million in 2020).

BLACKPINK’s single, Ice Cream featuring Selena Gomez is currently in fifth place, with 79.0 million views in August 2020.
