Blondie has a new record coming and it features some insane collaborations

Blondie is a boss and always will be. Last year, Debbie Harry (alongside Chris Stein) told Consequence of Sound that they would be releasing a new record this year that, as Stein slated it, was to be “more organic and very much band-based, a little more old-school.”

This morning we were delivered the first taste of the album with a track that pretty much nails this brief – it’s called Fun and it’s super catchy, very band-driven, and definitively old school. They’ve also given some details on the new album – Blondie’s 11th studio effort – which is called Pollinator and will feature some insane collaborations.

Pollinator

Blondie has a new record and it features collabs with Blood Orange, Johnny Marr, Sia, The Strokes, Tv on The Radio and more. Listen to the first cut below.

Pollinator is due out on May 5th. Fun – the first single from the record – was a collaboration with TV on the Radio’s David Sitek who no doubt had a hand in the track’s new wave/vintage disco backbone.

Sitek is just one of many collaborators on the record. It is also set to feature contributions from Sia, Charli XCX, Dev Hynes from Blood Orange, Nick Valensi of The Strokes, The Smiths guitar wizard Johnny Marr, Joan Jett, The Gregory Brothers and Bob’s Burgers comedian John Roberts. Holy shit.

What’s more? It was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer John Congleton (Sunns, Swans, Explosions In The Sky, Angel Olsen, The Black Angels, St. Vincent & David Byrne). Yeah.

Pollinator Tracklist:

01. Doom or Destiny
02. Long Time
03. Already Naked
04. Fun
05. My Monster
06. Best Day Ever
07. Gravity
08. When I Gave Up On You
09. Love Level
10. Too Much
11. Fragments
