It was back in April, with the release of his single Mortgage And A Mower, that we were first introduced to the sun-soaked, suburban sounds of Buddy Dingo. And let us tell you, this bloke knows how to spin a tune.
Since April, Dingo has continued to win the hearts of listeners all over the country with the release of his video for Driving My Ute (our pick for the video of the year)… and now, he has shared his new single I Love My Backyard; further proof that this man is incapable of writing a bad track.
Pack up your briefcase, give work the flick, and come spend the arvo in Buddy Dingo’s backyard; a paradise where the plants are green and the hills hoist holds five loads.
Throughout the new track, Dingo eases his way through bright instrumentation and dry, distinctly-Australian lyricism to paint a portrait of any Aussie’s kingdom – their backyard. With imagery of hills hoists, backyard cricket, and arvo barbecues, this new track covers it all.
These are still early days for Buddy Dingo, but judging by everything we’ve heard so far, I think we can safely expect plenty more quality material from this artist in the not-too-distant future. Here’s hoping we won’t have to wait long.
For now, do yourself a favour and listen to the new single above. And while you’re here, check out the video for Driving My Ute here… you won’t regret it.
