Can’t find anyone to collab with? Google has invented an A.I. to play piano duets with you

By News

If you’ve been finding it hard to come by a collaborator or duet bro lately, tech giant Google may just have your back. A.I Duet has just been made public, and the name pretty much says it all.

The technology allows an artificial intelligence to play along with you on piano in a call-and response style. Using a database of melodies stored in it’s neural networks, the software will play a set of notes back to you based on the tune you gave it.

Want to play piano alongside a robot? Google has unveiled A.I. Duet, the faceless piano partner with a coded mind of it’s own.

A.I. Duet is part of Google’s ongoing Project Magenta, an artificial intelligence development program.

At the very end of last year, we heard the very first song composed by an artificial intelligence. It’s hardly a chart-topper, but you can listen to it here.

Watch the video above to catch it in action, or try out A.I. Duet here.
