One of Australia’s best storytellers and indie rockers is back.
Melbourne singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett, alongside Milk! Records labelmate, Evelyn Ida Morris, have an anticipated new project in the works.

Courtney Barnett and Evelyn Ida Morris have signed up to soundtrack an upcoming film about the women’s liberation movement in Australia, Brazen Hussies.
According to Far Out Magazine, Brazen Hussies is an upcoming film set to explore the women’s liberation movement in Australia in the 1960s and ’70s. Directed by Catherine Dwyer, the film will include a collection of archival footage, photographs, interviews, and more.
This revolutionary chapter in Australia’s history is so important and it’s going to need a compelling soundtrack to match. Thankfully, it looks like we’re going to have just that. With Courtney Barnett’s witty lyricism and homey deadpan vocals, we can be sure the soundscape of Brazen Hussies is in the right hands. You can catch her recent MTV unplugged performance here.
That being said, this is not going to be a solo project for the Avant-Gardener singer, because Evelyn Ida Morris will be joining in on the effort. Evelyn Ida Morris is best known for their musical dexterity and complex songwriting ability. The news was posted on the Brazen Hussies Instagram page yesterday.
